Exploring our spiritual relationship with crude oil.

Crude oil is the blood of the planet, created by the compression and heating of ancient organic materials over geological time. Oil is formed from the preserved remains of prehistoric zooplankton and algae, which have settled to the sea (or lake) bottom in large quantities under anoxic conditions.

TRACE contemplates our relationship with Crude oil; liberated by and victims of its exploitation — the substance of time immemorial, we are caught in the middle. We struggle to define our role in this archetypal ménage that could lead us toward annihilation.

The earth is our body, a holy ground of all matter recycling itself. The spiritual lesson inherent in our dependency on; destruction of the environment for; and geo political warfare to gain control of crude oil may be to respect and connect our lives to our ancestry going back to the beginning of life on earth.

MISSION STATEMENT

I am returning to my roots as a painter, where I first discovered my talent, lost my identity/my sense of separation in process - painting portraits. For the next 2 years I am only painting portraits. Abstraction & performance art lend to my feeling immortal now I am mother I feel human, more grounded & more vulnerable than ever and I am pulled to dive in.

I will open an exhibITion MUDBIRD, Dec 9 2015 at TBG (my studio/gallery). I PREPARE the space for my new show & my new direction.

A zen studio to paint commissions in & bring my subjects into & also the option to rent a part of it out as event space gives me a solid base to generate a reliable income for me & my baby.

All the signs look good. I have started all the preliminary work to transform my space and life. I am excited to be re-creating my space to provide a secure future for my son which also allows me to continue making art. Your contribution would enable me to transition to the next phase of my arts practice.
